The roguelite city-builder introduces a new technology, challenges, and quality of life features as it ploughs through early access. Hooded Horse is excited to share the next step in city-building sensation Against the Storm’s early access journey. Along with new upgrades, orders, and forest mysteries, the latest bi-weekly patch also introduces the first wave the ‘Rainpunk’ mechanics, which come with a revamped Blightrot system for a more dynamic challenge.
Check out the full patch notes to learn more, but the new Rainpunk mechanics allow players to fully master their environment. In a world where the rain never stops, why not try and harness that power for your own ends? The new techs allow you to build powerful ‘Rain Engines’ that will make your buildings even better, and these require a new resource - Infused Rainwater.
Tied to this is the Blightrot revamp - the more Rain Engines you bring online, the quicker the cysts will form, and if you’re not careful they will spread across your settlement. This is just the first steps for Rainpunk - the next update in a couple of weeks will introduce the final pieces, after the developers have had time to monitor and react to how players get on with these initial changes.
Against the Storm is available on PC via Steam Early Access. It currently holds a 96% ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam with over 5,500 reviews.
